Our Founder

Dr. Nagamia founded and was the chairman of International Institute of Islamic Medicine (IIIM) founded in 1992, a subsidiary organization of IMANA, devoted to research and development of “History of Islamic Medicine”. His contribution to the Islamic landscape in America was tremendous. He helped initiate many symposiums, trips and conferences in North America and internationally on Islam and Medicine. He was also an avid historian and wanted to spread that rich legacy of Islamic medicine and history to a new audience in the West. Dr Nagamia was actively involved in establishing and volunteering for a number of Islamic Organizations locally, nationally as well as internationally: ISNA, IMANA, JIMA, ISHIM being a few of them.
